A pep rally was held to kick off and develop awareness about the Project Unify Club at Douglas Elementary.  The Project Unify Club meets once a month to partner special education students with general education students to learn about various topics such as respect, acceptance and how to build a culture of acceptance within the school. Students in 3rd-5th grade applied to join the club by filling out an application.  Along with the application, students were required to provide one teacher reference letter.  Once applicants were selected, they were assigned a student with special needs as their buddy.  One fun thing that students and their buddies will get to do is practice Bocce ball in order to prepare for the Project Unify Bocce tournament that takes place at Strom Thurmond High School this March.
